Gastronomic hotelsCatalonia does not let its guard down in the field of tourism promotion, efforts that have a clear reward. It is the second Autonomous Community that has received the most foreign tourists until April, about 4 million, only behind the Canary Islands. These days it has launched all the ENT projects aimed at consolidating that leadership; first launch a promotional campaign focused on family tourism and then with the creation of the seal of quality of "Gastronomic Hotels".

This stamp, presented a few days ago in Madrid, at the Blanquerna Cultural Center, aims to recognize the gastronomic specialty in small-format hotel establishments with less than 60 rooms. Patrick Torrent, executive director of the Catalan Tourism Agency, was in charge of presenting its characteristics in an act in which he was accompanied by three representatives of the hotel for which it was created: Joan Pallarès, from the Can Boix de Peramola hotel, Montserrat Jubany, from the Vall Ferrera hotel, and Ramón Pau, from the Els Caçadors hotel in Ribes de Freser.
The “Gastronomic Hotels” seal is presented as a tool of the Catalan Quality System Tourist to guarantee its projection as "Tourist destination with high added value". In this sense, it will serve as a guarantee to the client that the tourist offer they have chosen lives up to the expectations created. The choice of Madrid for the presentation is not accidental. The Madrid market represents 20% of the tourist clientele for the Catalan Community.

Quality requirements

The Government of Catalonia promotes this gastronomic specialty model as a voluntary option for small hotels -up to 60 rooms- with the aim of reaching a specialized tourist segment. To adhere to this new quality seal, several requirements are demanded of hotels, with four fundamental axes:
  • Efficient family and close treatment.
  • Quality and comfortable accommodation.
  • Quality gastronomic offer.
  • Territorial revitalization at economic and cultural level.
Likewise, the new brand "Gastronomic Hotels of Catalonia" will work to preserve the personality, identity and agri-food products of the territory, making them known and presenting them as an added value, in this case, within the framework of the accommodation offer.
